School Locations
Merriman Schools are held in many places in Thomond and beyond. The Summer School is always held in County Clare. The Winter School is held in various counties, including Clare. Factors such as travel and weather, along with invitations from local committees influence the selection of venues. This is a collection of articles about these locations.
Articles in Preparation
We are currently preparing several new articles. Amongst them is one on Cúirt an Mheán Oíche its self, which we hope to publish very soon. We are also preparing translations of articles that have been on one language only until now.

- This well‑known destination is located close to many of the places in which Brian Merriman spent his life.

- A rare example of an Irish planned town, developed in a former stronghold of the O’Malley clan.

- This is the nearest town to Rinn Ua gCuanach, the most easterly Gaeltacht in Ireland.

- Brian Merriman lived for some time in this area and it was here that he composed the poem Cúirt an Mheán Oíche.

- Ennistymon
- This is Brian Merriman’s birthplace, in which many Summer Schools have been held.
- Lisdoonvarna
- This West‑Clare town is famous for its Spa, matchmaking, and the location of many Summer Schools.
- Sorcha Ní Ghuairim
- Sorcha Ní Ghuairim excelled as a teacher, a lecturer and a journalist in the field of the Irish language but is best remembered as a great sean‑nós singer.
